Thai authorities seize illegal e-cigarette products in Phuket raid
Phuket authorities seized a large quantity of e-cigarette products in a raid on a rented property in town.

According to The Phuket News reported on August 8th, Sophon Suwannarat, the Governor of Phuket, announced that he has assigned several senior officials to raid a rented property on Tilok Uthit 2 Road in Phuket Town, where a large quantity of e-cigarette products and accessories were discovered.


The confiscated items included 109 e-cigarette devices, 162 e-cigarette mouthpieces, 64 bottles of e-cigarette liquid, 48 e-cigarette coils, 55 e-cigarette liquid refill mouthpieces, and 400 Thai baht (11.34 USD) in cash.


According to Article 242 and Article 246 of the 2017 Customs Law and Article 4 of the 2014 Ministry of Commerce announcement banning the import of electronic shisha and e-cigarettes, the suspect faces charges of illegal sales and distribution of these banned products.

DOJ Trade Fraud Task Force Tops $1 Billion in Cases, Putting Vape Supply Chains at Risk of Fraud Enforcement
According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Fox News and other reports, the DOJ’s Trade Fraud Task Force (TFTF) has been linked to more than $1 billion in recoveries, penalties, forfeitures and publicly charged losses in less than one year. The task force focuses on trade fraud issues including country-of-origin fraud, illegal transshipment, false declarations and tariff evasion. While vape products are not the main source of the $1 billion figure, the industry’s reliance on global manufacturing and cross-border supply chains places it within broader U.S. trade enforcement scrutiny. According to China’s patent office records, a patent owned by China Tobacco Hubei Industrial Corporation (CTHB) for “cigarette paper and a cigarette for microwave heating” was granted on May 19, 2026.
