Vietnam Authorities Crack Down on Illegal E-Cigarettes Sold on Facebook
Vietnam's Long An Department of Market Management cracked down on multiple illegal e-cigarette cases, seizing nearly 150 unverified devices.

According to PLO.VN on May 29th, the Market Management Department in Long An Province, Vietnam, handled several cases of illegal importation of e-cigarettes through social media websites. They seized nearly 150 e-cigarettes without invoices or proof of legal source in the region.

 

The department stated that they obtained leads through information screening on the social media website Facebook, and conducted investigations into three foreign-related commercial cases from May 21 to 24. These cases involved the sale of e-cigarettes manufactured abroad but were unable to provide formal documentation to prove their legal source.

 

On May 21, the department conducted a surprise inspection at a store in South Long Province and found 77 e-cigarettes, including brands such as Vappro Dream, Atus, and Miou. From May 21 to 24, the department also seized 45 and 20 e-cigarettes from two other stores. In total, the three stores confiscated 142 e-cigarettes, with an estimated total value of approximately 30 million Vietnamese dong ($1178.55 USD) based on the on-site pricing.

 

The department stated that they will continue to monitor the buying and selling of goods through social media platforms such as Zalo, TikTok, and Facebook. If any violations are discovered, the information will be forwarded to the market management team for further investigation and action.
