Brazilian Health Authority Delays Debate on E-cigarette Regulations to the 19th

Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency delays debate on e-cigarette regulations to April 19 due to technical issues.

According to a report by Agorarn on April 17, Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has decided to postpone the debate on e-cigarette regulations until the 19th. The meeting, originally scheduled for this Wednesday (the 17th), was unable to proceed as planned due to technical and operational issues on the official YouTube channel. Meanwhile, the deadline for the submission of public voice comments through video has been extended until 6:00 pm on the 18th.

Since 2009, Anvisa has prohibited the production, sale, import, and promotion of e-cigarette products through resolutions. Last year, Anvisa unanimously approved a technical report that recommended maintaining the ban on e-cigarette products and implementing additional measures to combat illegal trade, such as law enforcement actions and educational campaigns.

In addition, the Brazilian Senate is currently reviewing a bill proposed by Senator Soraya Thronicke that would allow for the production, import, export, and consumption of e-cigarettes in Brazil.
