French Police Uncover 70 Kg of Marijuana in Mayor's Home
French police found at least 70 kilograms of marijuana in the residence of Jonage mayor Jamilah Habsaoui on April 7.

According to a report from BFMTV on April 7th, French police found at least 70 kilograms of cannabis at the residence of the mayor of Jouneville, Jamilah Habsaoui.

 

In this operation, seven suspects have been detained, but their identities have not been disclosed. According to local reports, the mayor's brother has also been under scrutiny for drug trafficking, and is widely believed to have been involved in the drug trafficking operation.

 

According to reports, the mayor of the town was elected as the mayor of Avalon in 2021, and also serves as a councilor in the region.

UK HMRC Urges Public to Report Suspicious Vape Shops in Crackdown on Tax Fraud, Money Laundering and Illicit Tobacco Sales
HM Revenue & Customs is urging members of the public to report vape shops, barber shops and other high-street businesses suspected of tax fraud, money laundering or other illegal activity, with informants not required to provide personal details. HMRC plans more than 30,000 interventions in 2026-27 targeting tax fraud, organised crime and illicit activity, including the sale of illegal vapes and tobacco. The push forms part of a broader UK effort to tackle organised crime on high streets, backed by a £30 million government enforcement programme.

According to SGST on August 26, 2026, Australia’s Coalition Illegal Tobacco Taskforce released a report recommending an up to 80% cut in tobacco excise to reduce the appeal of the illicit tobacco market. South Korean lawmaker Jeong Jin-wook has again called for stronger government action against liquid synthetic nicotine vape manufacturers and sellers, alleging that some businesses may have avoided regulation through product labeling changes and corporate restructuring. According to Newsworks, JNILBO and other Korean reports, Jeong has held his third press conference on the issue, calling for a government-wide investigation.
