Illegal E-cigarette Sales Crackdown in Indian Market: 6 Arrested
Six people arrested in Chennai for illegal sale of e-cigarettes banned by Tamil Nadu government, with 1312 seized. Police continue crackdown.

According to The Times of India, on March 11th, serious violations were reported at the Nellai Palayam market in India. Police have arrested six individuals on suspicion of illegal selling e-cigarettes in a specific area. These e-cigarettes are prohibited from being sold by the Tamil Nadu government, and a total of 1312 were seized at the scene.

 

Law enforcement officers began intensive searches after the regulations were issued. Sandip Rai Rathore, the Commissioner of City Police in Chennai, stated in a public declaration that substantial progress has been made. The police are actively pursuing the matter, conducting covert investigations at e-cigarette sales points, and have already made arrests of suspects.

 

According to information provided by the police, two men were arrested on March 9 for allegedly selling prohibited e-cigarettes secretly in a store. Additionally, four other suspects were also arrested in a subsequent search operation.

 

This operation resulted in the seizure of 1312 e-cigarettes, with 6 suspects currently facing charges. The police are preparing to take appropriate legal action against them.

 

According to the latest information released by the police, there will be continued strict monitoring of this situation. Those who smuggle, hide, or sell any prohibited items, including e-cigarettes banned by the Tamil Nadu government, will face serious consequences.
