Illegal sale of e-cigarette products in Queensland leads to fines
An Australian retailer in Queensland faces $18,780 fine for illegal possession of e-cigarettes, according to Insidefmcg on October 28.

According to Insidefmcg reported on October 28th, a retailer in Queensland, Australia is facing a fine of $18,780 for possessing a commercial quantity of illegal e-cigarettes.


On August 1, 2024, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and the Queensland Health Department conducted a joint enforcement operation, executing a search warrant and seizing over 350 e-cigarettes from the store.

Illegal possession and sales of e-cigarette products pose a threat to public health and undermine our efforts to regulate e-cigarette products under legislation passed on July 1, 2024. The agency will continue to work with partners in various states and regions to remove illegal e-cigarette products from the market and take action against companies that do not comply with regulations.


From January 1, 2024, the Australian Border Force and TGA have seized over 6.5 million e-cigarette products, valued at over 1.955 billion Australian dollars.
