Interdisciplinary Conference on Tobacco Regulation and E-cigarette Control
Brazil to hold its first interdisciplinary conference, the "SBGMD," on November 25 in Guarujá to discuss tobacco regulation and e-cigarette impact.

Brazil will hold its first interdisciplinary conference on November 25th, Saturday, called the "SBGMD". The conference will take place in Guarujá and will address all aspects of tobacco use regulation, including issues concerning the suboptimal health population and smoking cessation efforts.

 

Doctors and scientists will discuss at the conference the impact of e-cigarette use on health and methods of controlling this practice.

Philippine BIR Will Destroys Nearly 450,000 Illicit Vape Products Over Unpaid Taxes
The Philippine Bureau of Internal Revenue has led a nationwide destruction of illicit vape products, citing unpaid excise taxes and penalties amounting to 1.34 billion pesos(approximately US$22 million). Nearly 450,000 units are scheduled for destruction over three days across multiple revenue regions. The seized products violated excise tax laws due to non-payment of taxes, lack of internal revenue stamps, and non-registration of vape brands.

Bernama reported that comedian Shahmira Muhamad, better known as Shuib Sepahtu, was fined RM10,000 (about US$2,460.93) after pleading guilty to promoting an electronic cigarette product on a YouTube podcast in 2024. The magistrate ordered one month’s jail in default of payment, and he paid the fine. He was charged over a promotion at 4.26pm on Oct 22, 2024, under Section 9(1) of the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 (Act 852).
