Interdisciplinary Conference on Tobacco Regulation and E-cigarette Control
Brazil to hold its first interdisciplinary conference, the "SBGMD," on November 25 in Guarujá to discuss tobacco regulation and e-cigarette impact.

Brazil will hold its first interdisciplinary conference on November 25th, Saturday, called the "SBGMD". The conference will take place in Guarujá and will address all aspects of tobacco use regulation, including issues concerning the suboptimal health population and smoking cessation efforts.

 

Doctors and scientists will discuss at the conference the impact of e-cigarette use on health and methods of controlling this practice.

Belarus Proposes 20% Tax Increase on Vaping Products and Nicotine Items
Belarus will increase excise taxes in 2026 on vapes, liquids for electronic smoking systems, and non-tobacco nicotine products, with a proposed 20% rise aimed at aligning these rates with traditional cigarettes. Electronic smoking devices and heated tobacco systems will also be added to the list of excisable goods. Excise taxes on filtered cigarettes and heated tobacco will rise by 7% and 3% respectively.

Denver to Hold Referendum on Flavored Tobacco Sales Ban; If Approved, Enforcement Begins in 2026
A referendum to be held on November 4 will determine whether Denver retains its ban on the sale of flavored tobacco/nicotine products. Campaign finance records show that, as of the end of August, the side seeking to repeal the ban had raised $410,000, significantly more than the pro-ban side (about $245,000). The ban took effect in March 2025, but the city had planned to begin enforcement on January 2026; if the referendum overturns the ban, enforcement will not proceed.
