New Regulations Require Retailers to Display Anti-Smoking Posters in Thailand
New Thai regulation requires retailers to display warning posters on tobacco sales, effective August 21, to deter new smokers.

According to a recent report by Pattayamail, a new regulation regarding the sale of cigarettes and tobacco in Thailand will come into effect on August 21. This new rule will require retailers to display posters warning of the dangers of smoking at sales points.


The Department of Disease Control (DDC) has announced that these posters must be prominently displayed during operating hours at a size of 7x21 centimeters. Violators will face a maximum fine of 5,000 Thai Baht (147 US dollars).


These posters are provided by the Department of Public Health with the aim of reducing new smokers, especially minors. Businesses can obtain the posters from tax department offices nationwide or download them from the DDC website.

According to Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Economy, the government plans to extend the current ban on e-cigarette imports by another six months once the existing measure expires, with the new restriction set to take effect on July 10, 2026. The ban covers disposable e-cigarettes as well as nicotine-containing liquids for reusable systems.

Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said an amendment that would give Russian regions the power to ban vape sales is planned for adoption in May. Volodin said the decision concerns the health of citizens, especially children. Portugal is among the countries opposing the UK Tobacco and Vapes Bill, which would ban tobacco sales to people born on or after Jan. 1, 2009.
