New Regulations Require Retailers to Display Anti-Smoking Posters in Thailand
New Thai regulation requires retailers to display warning posters on tobacco sales, effective August 21, to deter new smokers.

According to a recent report by Pattayamail, a new regulation regarding the sale of cigarettes and tobacco in Thailand will come into effect on August 21. This new rule will require retailers to display posters warning of the dangers of smoking at sales points.


The Department of Disease Control (DDC) has announced that these posters must be prominently displayed during operating hours at a size of 7x21 centimeters. Violators will face a maximum fine of 5,000 Thai Baht (147 US dollars).


These posters are provided by the Department of Public Health with the aim of reducing new smokers, especially minors. Businesses can obtain the posters from tax department offices nationwide or download them from the DDC website.
