Suffolk County Council Unanimously Passes Ban on "Disguised" E-cigs
Suffolk County Council in New York unanimously passes a bill banning the sale of "disguised" e-cigarettes resembling everyday items.

According to a report from Long Island, the Suffolk County Council in New York unanimously passed a legislation that aims to ban the "disguised" e-cigarettes. This bill seeks to prohibit the sale of electronic devices that closely resemble everyday items, including school supplies.

 

The proposal recommends imposing a fine of $1000 on stores that sell counterfeit products. A spokesperson for Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone stated that he plans to sign the bill, turning it into law.

Philip Morris Japan announced the launch of a new TEREA heated tobacco stick for the IQOS ILUMA series, “TEREA Stellar Pearl,” featuring a crushable capsule mint profile. Lawmakers in the Philippines are pushing House Bill 5207 (HB 5207), which seeks to harmonize excise tax rates on vapor products and address disparities between nicotine salt and freebase nicotine taxation. Azerbaijan has approved amendments to its tobacco law that introduce a comprehensive ban on e-cigarettes and their components, covering import, export, production, storage, wholesale and retail sales, and use. Nicotine-containing e-cigarettes are classified as tobacco products under the revised framework. The law takes effect on April 1, 2026.

Philip Morris International (PMI) released its Q4 and full-year 2025 results on February 6, 2026. PMI reported full-year net revenues of $40,648 million ($40.6 billion), reported diluted EPS of $7.26 and adjusted diluted EPS of $7.54. PMI said smoke-free net revenues were $16.9 billion and represented 41.5% of total net revenues, with smoke-free products available in 106 markets and over 43 million estimated adult consumers.

Brazil’s Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF) has filed a public civil action seeking to compel the federal government and Anvisa to establish a strict, enforceable regulatory framework for electronic smoking devices, replacing the current blanket ban. The lawsuit calls for mandatory product registration, nicotine caps, bans on youth-targeted advertising, and clear health warnings on packaging, and demands a national consumption report and an implementation timetable within 90 days.
