According to a report from Chiangrai Times on April 8th, the Office of the Basic Education Commission (Obec) of Thailand has stated that the trend of Thai students using e-cigarettes is increasingly worrying. Due to the increasingly serious issue, the organization has decided to take strict measures to address the significant increase in student use of e-cigarettes.
The school is planning to conduct searches of students' belongings before they enter the classroom in order to check for illegal and inappropriate items, such as e-cigarettes. This procedure will be implemented at the school starting from the first day of the new semester on May 15th.
In addition, Thai customs seized tobacco and e-cigarettes worth 34.11 million Thai Baht (approximately 930,000 USD) and arrested 211 smugglers between March 1 and April 5.
