UK supermarket giant backs ban on disposable e-cigarettes, faces backlash from online vape retailers
The UK government's ban on disposable e-cigarettes is backed by supermarket giant Waitrose, sparking controversy among online retailers.

The UK government's decision to ban the sale of disposable e-cigarettes has been backed by supermarket giant Waitrose, according to a report in Financial News on 25 October.

The company's chief commercial officer, Charlotte Di Cello, said: "As the only supermarket in the UK that has decided to never sell disposable e-cigarettes, we fully support the government's ban.

Desai pointed out that millions of disposable devices are discarded every week, adding significantly to the total amount of waste in landfill and making waste management a prominent issue in discussions on sustainable development.

Waitrose has come under fire from online e-cigarette retailers. Critics argue that Waitrose's stance is seen as a "hypocritical awakening".
