Expansion of EBN's Nationwide Equipment Recycling Program for Environment Protection.
British American Tobacco's Korean subsidiary expands nationwide equipment recycling program to include VUSE vape, aiming for environmental protection and resource recycling.

According to a report by EBN on September 2nd, British American Tobacco's South Korean subsidiary announced that they will expand their nationwide equipment recycling program. The program aims to recycle, dispose, and reuse unused equipment to promote environmental protection through resource recycling.

The company announced that its expansion plan will now include recycling VUSE vape devices in addition to the previous glo heated tobacco devices. In order to increase user engagement and convenience, the company has decided to increase the number of collaborating convenience stores nationwide.

Glo and VUSE devices will be recycled through dedicated recycling bins set up at over 100 convenience stores nationwide, including CU, GS25, and 7-11. These recycled devices will undergo a professional reprocessing process and be sorted for disposal or reuse based on their components. Batteries will be separated and used in the manufacturing of new batteries.

The company's spokesperson stated that,

With the expansion of this recycling program, we have provided consumers with a more effective platform for the recycling and reuse of old devices. We also hope that this initiative will increase resource circulation rates, thereby contributing to environmental protection and sustainable operations.

A fire at Biffa’s materials recycling facility in Westgate on July 1 was likely sparked by a lithium battery from an e-cigarette discarded in a blue recycling bag. The blaze was quickly contained. The site had also seen a fire in January that required 60 firefighters. South Staffordshire Council and Biffa are urging the public not to dispose of e-cigarettes, batteries, or similar items in regular waste or recycling bins, but to use designated disposal points instead.
