Haypp Group Calls for Safer Nicotine Trading Laws in UK
UK online nicotine retailer Haypp Group launches campaign urging safer nicotine trading laws in response to England and Wales' disposable e-cigarette ban.

According to a report by betterretailing on March 14th, the UK online nicotine retailer Haypp Group has launched a new campaign calling for safer nicotine trading laws to be implemented in the UK. This move is in response to the previous announcement banning disposable e-cigarettes in England and Wales.

Marcus Lindblad, head of legal and external affairs at Haypp Group, stated, "These proposals could have a positive impact on (retailers) sales, as smokers will choose safer options. Retailers should start adjusting their inventory (after the announcement of the ban on disposable e-cigarettes).

The group's proposal is as follows: tobacco product packaging should be child-resistant, using child-proof packaging; product descriptions should not appeal to minors, only clear and accurate flavor descriptions should be used, rather than adding advertising to attract people; sales behind the counter. Nicotine products should not be openly displayed, but rather hidden behind the sales counter, which also applies to any online retailers; the maximum nicotine content for all products in the UK market should be 20mg per pack; the maximum pH value for all products on the market should be 9.1, and the minimum pH value should be 5.6; all products on the UK market should be tested according to the standards of Nicoleaks.com, including the aforementioned nicotine and pH values.

Lindblade continued to say:

Retailers can demonstrate their sense of responsibility and ability for independent thinking, then government legislation will be more relevant and consumer-centric to ensure we are providing the right products for consumers. As a responsible retailer, we hope to ensure that we are doing everything possible to support government proposals to restrict the promotion of nicotine products. While the current focus is on e-cigarettes, nicotine pouch retailers also need to make changes urgently to create a sustainable industry.
