San Francisco Prosecutor David Chiu Sues Four Online Tobacco Retailers
San Francisco prosecutor David Chiu sues online tobacco retailers for targeting youth with flavored nicotine products, violating state law.

According to a report by Kron4 on September 4th, San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu has filed lawsuits against four online tobacco retailers, accusing them of violating a ban on harming children from exposure to harmful nicotine use.

This lawsuit targets Rogue Holdings LLC, Swisher International Inc., Northern Scandinavia Inc., and Lucy Goods Inc., alleging that these retailers violated state laws by attracting young people through "repackaging" products.

We will not allow these companies to openly disregard the law and undermine decades of progress in reducing youth tobacco use. These products are not welcome here, and we are taking decisive action against online retailers selling these products in San Francisco.

According to the lawsuit filed on Tuesday (the 3rd), these four online retailers are accused of repackaging their flavored nicotine pouches and specifically targeting teenagers in their advertising.

According to the 2023 California Youth Tobacco Survey, a majority of high school students who currently use tobacco reported that they are using flavored tobacco products, and nicotine pouches are also cheaper than traditional cigarettes or e-cigarettes.

The city prosecutor's office stated, "Enforcing these laws and preventing online retailers from selling these products in San Francisco is crucial for protecting our youth from the harm of these dangerous products.
