Seizure of 5.6 Ton E-cigarettes Worth over $800,000 at Guarulhos Airport
Brazilian Federal Revenue announced the seizure of 5.6 tons of e-cigarettes worth over $800,000 at Guarulhos International Airport.

Recently, the Brazilian Federal Revenue Office (Receita Federal) issued a statement announcing that authorities discovered a shipment of 5.6 tons of e-cigarettes in the cargo warehouse at Guarulhos International Airport. A total of 43,200 devices were seized, with a market value that could exceed 5 million Brazilian reais (800,000 US dollars).


These goods were identified and detained during the transfer process in order to issue formal documentation of their violation.


This operation was carried out by the Customs Risk Management Service (Serad) of the Federal Tax and Customs Administration of Guarulhos. During the risk analysis process, enforcement officers found inconsistencies in the documents of the shipment. After further inspection, it was confirmed that the product was in violation and subsequently seized.


Since 2009, the importation, sale, and advertising of e-cigarettes have been prohibited in Brazil by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).

China’s vape-related exports reached $1.047 billion in July 2026, up 16.5% year on year and the highest monthly total of the year. Growth was heavily concentrated in the U.S., where exports jumped 53.5% to $404 million and accounted for 94.9% of the overall increase. Exports to all other markets rose just 1.2%. By category, nicotine-containing non-combustible products—primarily vapes—under HS24041200 rose 24.7% and generated 95.5% of the total increase. Vape-device exports under HS85434000 fell 0.4%, while other nicotine-substitute products under HS24041990 grew 88.9% but remained comparatively small.

Russia will place e-cigarettes and related nicotine products under its “strategic goods” framework from August 20, 2026. According to TVP World’s report published on August 19, the newly listed items include e-cigarettes, electronic smoking devices, vape liquids and nicotine salts. Individuals who illegally move these products across Russia’s customs border or its state border with other Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) members could face up to five years in prison if shipment values exceed 100,000 rubles (about €1,000), provided all elements of a criminal offence are established.

Russia's digital labeling regime for reusable e-cigarettes and similar personal vaping devices entered its first mandatory phase in September 2026. From September 1, manufacturers, importers and other market participants must register with the national Chestny ZNAK tracking system. From December 1, newly manufactured and imported covered devices will be required to carry digital identification codes and be reported as entering circulation. Russia has also issued new operational guidance for imports, marking the transition from a voluntary pilot to phased mandatory implementation.

U.S. technology and investigative publication WIRED has examined how nicotine analogs are emerging as a new challenge for the country’s vape regulatory framework. The article argues that after the U.S. expanded federal oversight of nicotine products in 2022, some manufacturers began using nicotine-like compounds such as 6-methyl-nicotine that may fall outside existing definitions. Researchers cited by WIRED said some nicotine analogs could be more potent than traditional nicotine, although human health impacts remain unclear. According to recent LinkedIn posts from people at VAPORESSO, SMOORE and a German distribution partner, vape brand DOJO will begin rolling out a new global brand identity on September 1, 2026, led by a redesigned handwritten logo. The new visual system will be gradually applied across product packaging, marketing materials and digital assets over the following months. Fabio Corsaro, Head of Marketing and Purchasing at MG Wesel GmbH, said the rebrand was related to trademark issues, but that explanation has not been publicly confirmed by DOJO, VAPORESSO or SMOORE. DOJO is currently promoting its Blast X product in Germany.
