According to a recent report by Better Retailing, the UK ban on disposable e-cigarettes will come into effect on June 1st. Many major wholesalers have already set early end dates for sales, which may result in retailers rushing to buy up remaining stock.
A spokesperson for the UK distributor Nisa has announced that the company will no longer distribute disposable e-cigarettes to retailers after the first week of May. Nisa is working with suppliers to provide transition support and will offer recommendations for alternative product lines to retailers. To ensure compliance before the June deadline, Nisa is providing advice and support to retailers and furnishing them with a guide for managing their inventory processes in-store.
In addition, Better Retailing has learned that Booker plans to stop selling to retailers in March or April. The wholesaler is working closely with various suppliers to sell off remaining stock before the new regulations come into effect.
A spokesperson for Spar has stated that in preparation for the upcoming regulations that will ban the sale of disposable e-cigarette products on June 1st, all five regional wholesalers of Spar are conducting thorough reviews of all disposable e-cigarette products. The comprehensive support and guidance provided by industry trade organizations have been shared with all stores to assist in a smooth transition and ensure compliance with the new regulations.
A spokesperson for Parfetts has stated that the company will announce its support for the plan in the coming weeks.
Nisa, Booker, Spar, and Parfetts are all major wholesale distributors in the UK.
