Portugal Tightens Regulations on Tobacco and Vaping
Portugal introduces new legislation to restrict smoking and vaping in public areas, and limit the sale of tobacco products.

Portugal is introducing stricter regulations on tobacco products, including vaping, banning smoking in outdoor spaces adjacent to public institutions like schools, hospitals, and colleges, reports euronews.com.

The new bill aims to control the sale and marketing of these products with an objective to make them exclusively available at tobacconists, petrol stations, and airports by 2025. The bill also prohibits direct selling or vending machine sales in places such as restaurants, bars, and music festivals. Complying with the European directive of 29 June 2022, the legislation treats heated tobacco products similarly to other tobacco products.
