Russian Health Minister Calls for Stricter E-Cigarette Regulation, Details Remain Unclear

The Russian Health Minister has called for stricter regulation of e-cigarettes, especially concerning their use by minors, and stated that plans are in place for gradual implementation, though details have not been disclosed.

According to a report by Lenta on November 6, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko called on the government to implement new measures to combat the use of e-cigarettes in Russia during a government meeting in the Federal Council.

Currently, e-cigarettes pose a new challenge. Although some restrictions have already been put in place by relevant laws, the key is still to reduce the appeal and limit the spread of e-cigarette use. It is especially crucial to implement specific solutions, as it has been found that minors are currently getting involved in this area.

The minister added that a series of plans have been formulated and will be gradually implemented in the future, but he did not disclose specific details.

Previously, Alexey Kurinny, the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma's Health Protection Committee, stated that Russia has not yet decided whether it will implement a ban on e-cigarettes like some other countries have done.
