According to a report by Paranashop on June 5th, a survey on e-cigarettes was conducted by the Brazilian HSR Health Research Institute and the "National Movement Against Cancer" data working group, interviewing 979 respondents.
Among the participants interviewed, 89% said they were aware of e-cigarettes, with 18% reporting having tried them before. Currently, 3% of individuals are still using them, particularly among the 16 to 24 age group. Data from the health department in Brazil shows that the smoking rate among individuals aged 18 and above is 9.3%.
Public health doctor Dr. Catherine Moura stated that
The use of e-cigarettes, especially among young people, is very alarming. Due to a lack of understanding, many people believe these devices are not dangerous, as they are more attractive and flavorful than traditional tobacco. However, this is not the case. Therefore, we urgently need to spread more information and, in particular, need stricter regulations to prevent these devices from being sold and used freely, as is currently happening in this country.
